Dog-Friendly Beaches

Avila Beach (Leashed)

Dogs are welcome on Avila Beach on a leash. Early morning and evening are the best times — fewer crowds, cooler sand, and your dog gets more space to explore.

Pirate's Cove (Off-Leash Friendly)

While not officially off-leash, Pirate's Cove is a more relaxed beach where dogs commonly run free. It's a short hike down from Cave Landing Road. Beautiful cliffs and tide pools.

Shell Beach / Dinosaur Caves Park

Just 10 minutes south. Dogs on leash in the park, with grassy areas, benches, and ocean views. Great for a morning walk.

Dog-Friendly Trails

Bob Jones Trail — dogs on leash, flat and shaded. Ontario Ridge Trail — more challenging, dogs on leash, great views. Both start within minutes of our properties.

Most Avila Beach restaurants have outdoor patios that welcome dogs: Custom House, Blue Moon, Mr. Rick's, and the Friday Farmers Market are all dog-friendly.
