Wine Country Rentals in the Edna & Arroyo Grande Valleys

The quieter half of Central Coast wine country. Edna Valley and the Arroyo Grande Valley sit between the ocean and the hills, twenty minutes from the beach and a world away from the Paso Robles crowds.

Our wine country homes

Two properties in the valley, including a private estate that takes a whole party at once.

Edna Valley is not Paso Robles, and that is the point

Paso Robles has more than 200 wineries and the weekend traffic to match. The Edna Valley has a few dozen, most of them small, and you can generally walk into a tasting room on a Saturday without a reservation booked weeks ahead.

The valley runs cool — fog pulls in off the ocean through the Los Osos and Edna gaps most mornings — which is why it does Chardonnay and Pinot Noir properly rather than the big reds Paso is known for. If you have done Paso and found it busy, this is the alternative.

What is actually close

From the Arroyo Grande Valley you are roughly ten minutes from the Edna Valley tasting rooms, fifteen from the village of Arroyo Grande, twenty from Avila Beach and twenty-five from downtown San Luis Obispo.

That combination is the reason people book out here rather than in a town: tasting in the afternoon, the beach the next morning, and somewhere quiet to come back to that is not a hotel corridor.

Wine country works best for groups

A tasting trip is a group activity, and the economics follow. Our estate sits on 13 private acres and sleeps 14 across the main house and four casitas, with a solar-heated pool and a hot tub — so a party that would otherwise be spread across several hotels stays in one place.

The farm cottage is the opposite end of the same idea: two bedrooms on a working farm, a creek, a hot tub, and fresh eggs. Good for two couples or a small family who want the valley without the scale.

Getting around without driving

Tasting and driving do not mix, and the valley is spread out. Plan a driver, or book a local car service directly — we are happy to point you to the operators people here actually use, though you will book them yourself.

Several Edna Valley tasting rooms are close enough together to walk between once you have parked, which is the easiest way to do an afternoon without moving the car twice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Edna Valley and Paso Robles?
Paso Robles has more than 200 wineries and the weekend traffic to match. It is generally far easier to walk into a tasting room without a reservation.
How far is the Edna Valley from the beach?
About twenty minutes. From the Arroyo Grande Valley you are roughly ten minutes from the Edna Valley tasting rooms, fifteen from Arroyo Grande village, twenty from Avila Beach and twenty-five from downtown San Luis Obispo.
Do you have a wine country property for a large group?
Yes. Our Arroyo Grande estate sits on 13 private acres and sleeps 14 across the main house and four casitas, with a solar-heated pool and a hot tub. It is booked as a whole estate rather than by the room.
Can you arrange transport between wineries?
No — Solmaré does not arrange transportation. We are happy to point you to the local car services people here actually use, and you book them directly. Several Edna Valley tasting rooms are close enough together to walk between once you have parked.
