Vacation Rental Management in Grover Beach

Permits: No new permits

Regulated by City of Grover Beach. Grover Beach has run a short-term rental permit programme since its ordinance was adopted in June 2019, and there are currently no non-owner-occupied permits available. Owner-occupied rentals remain possible, but with a condition that rules out most investor use: the owner has to be in the residence, or in another residence on the same property, between 10pm and 7am during a stay. Transient Occupancy Tax and the Tourism Marketing District assessment are remitted monthly on any stay under 30 days.

Lodging tax: 13.5%

12% city Transient Occupancy Tax plus the 1.5% county Tourism Marketing District assessment.

Worth knowing: a stay of 31 nights or longer is not a short-term rental, so permit caps and freezes do not reach it. We do not take on 31+ night rentals yet — that is licensed activity in California and we will offer it when ours issues. We would still rather you knew the option exists, so ask and we will point you the right way.

If you already hold a Grover Beach permit

In Grover Beach an existing permit is genuinely valuable — it cannot currently be replaced, so the job is running it well and never missing a renewal. Your permit stays in your name either way. How switching works.

Where we stand in Grover Beach

Five minutes from us, and one of the markets where the honest answer shapes the plan: if you already hold a Grover permit it is worth protecting, and if you were hoping to buy and run a non-owner-occupied rental here, that door is shut for now.
